As expectativas eram baixas (bastante baixas, aliás).

In English,

A week ago I landed in belgian possessions for the first time ever.
My expectatios were low (quite low, actually). I already knew from the start that Brussels was a small city, better known for the european institutions, its' waffles and chocolates.
In addition, the reviews from friends and a few acquaintances were a bit controversial, but no one has described it as a memorable destination. Not even talking about the weather forecast, which wasn't favourable to this trip, at all.

I don't know if it was because I was already convinced that this weekend was not going to be worth it (and consequently everything would easily amaze me, you know), or because of the city itself and its capacity to surprise me, but coming home I felt completely satisfied and it ended up being more than worth it.

I belive autumn has contributed a lot to this feeling, and I may admite, I probably woudn't like the city that much if I would go there at any other time of the year. There are many little gardens and parks all over which are just beautiful around this time.

At the end of the day, St Peter hasn't been that mean to us. It didn't rain that much, and when it did, it felt just like the sea breeze. When it comes to the cold, we are already used to it, and it wasn't that bad. Any potencial obstacle to the walking and wandering ended up dissipated.
The city isn't big, as I could confirm, but it is plenty of nice places to visit and they are all quite near to each other. It is perfectly doable on foot.
